Matt "Mick" Carmody studied art in college outside of Washington, D.C. before moving to Los Angeles. He began a career in the entertainment industry as an actor and filmmaker, while also working as an internationally syndicated political cartoonist. Mick's loose, drip and splatter form of painting couples impressionism with the energetic abstract expressionistic style of artists like Jackson Pollock. His combining of recognizable subjects and compositions with a chaotic drip style feels both uniform and tumultuous at once. His paintings hang in the homes of celebrities and professional athletes. In 2016 Mick was commissioned to contribute artwork for TV star Joel McHale's autobiography. He works and resides in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
