Martijn Buurman

Martijn Johannes Hermanus Buurman, born in 1975 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

“My materials are colored silicone on canvas. Why? Silicone sealant is normally used to fix things like windows and bathtubs. When fixed, people want the silicone to be as invisible as possible. My paintings show the other side of this material: very colorful, pleasantly sticky and with a nice, very specific texture. As far as I am concerned, it deserves to be visible! I love to use it to create my abstract, vibrant and truly unique paintings.”

Happily married to Brigit since 2001 and proud father of Kars, Stan and Sanne. Self-taught artist since 2018 and also working as a CIO and Senior Consultant at IV experts (the company I founded in 2010).
