Monica Henry is a Geelong based artist who culminates her skills in design and her family history of working in wool and oil paint to create her floral artworks. Monica has travelled extensively throughout Asia, USA, Canada and spent time living in Japan which has had a profound influence on her artwork.
Inspired by textures, fabrics, botanical nature and the movement of threads, Monica brings these elements into her designs through rhythm and flow. She uses a wide selection of different wools and yarn, together with a range of stitches and techniques to create patterns, texture, levels and contrast in her textile pieces. Her florals bring warmth and create a focal point to any room.
Monica is also an adept painter. Her style has evolved as she has grown as a person and she has found her niche working with bursts of colour to bring her botanicals to life .
Her work is represented in private collections throughout Australia and internationally including the USA, Europe, Japan and NZ. She currently sells to a US gallery as well as several local stockists.
