Mihails Karavajevs (b. 1965) is a Latvian-born artist whose creative journey began in the world of architecture. A graduate in architectural design, Karavajevs spent decades mastering form, composition, and the language of space before dedicating himself entirely to painting.
His works embody a dialogue between structure and emotion — a fusion of architectural precision and the free, tactile energy of textured painting. Using acrylic, gesso, gold leaf, and mixed media, Karavajevs builds surfaces that are as sculptural as they are pictorial, inviting the viewer to both see and feel the art.
Over the past years, his paintings have found homes in private collections across Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. Each piece is conceived as a one-of-a-kind work, often part of thematic series such as “Book of the Dead”, “Over the Abyss”, and “Textural Abstracts”.
At the age of 60, Mihails continues to explore the intersection of architecture and fine art, creating works that transcend cultural and geographical boundaries. His paintings are not just visual experiences — they are tactile narratives, shaped by a lifetime of observation, design, and creative freedom.
