Natalya Mougenot

Natalya Mougenot is a contemporary artist/photographer based in Lyon, France, originally from Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, a land of vast steppes and quiet mountains that continues to echo in her visual language. She moved to France in 2003, a transition that deeply shaped her identity and creative voice.

Natalya began painting in 2017 during a period of radical personal transformation. What started as a form of therapeutic release soon evolved into a committed art practice rooted in emotional honesty, introspection, and spiritual balance. Painting became more than a hobby—it became a language of the soul and a way to process both personal and collective experiences.

Her distinctive style blends Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, Art Naïf, and Art Brut, resulting in artworks that are raw, intuitive, and emotionally resonant. Through bold brushstrokes, rich color palettes, and spontaneous compositions, she conveys moments of fragility, freedom, and inner strength.

At the core of Natalya’s work lie three guiding values: authenticity, sincerity, and emotional truth.
“Authenticity is everything,” she says. “People can always feel when something is real—or when it’s not. I want my work to be honest, to come from a place that’s true.”
