Okan Sayan

Okan provokes and polarises, using personalities and symbols that unite opposites in his eyes. Poverty meets wealth, cohesion meets exclusion; emotional blindness is compensated by colors and their sound; beloved or longed-for power instruments such as bank notes are stylized as symbols of oppression.

Decisive for Sayan's art is also everyday life in the gastronomy; in bars, cafes and clubs. Strangers or known people in the crowd, architectural forms, food and drinks - a sheer infinite variety of inspirations and ingredients that are reflected in some of his works like a top note of cigar smoke, whiskey and lounge music.
