Pamela Jennings

Bio: Pam was born in New York City and grew up in Harlem. She has an MFA in art painting and drawing from Brooklyn College in New York and a PHD in Clinical Psychology from the George Washington University in Washington, DC where she was a practicing Clinical Psychologist and academician for 27 years before deciding to pursue her dream to be a visual artist. Her art influences can be traced back to elementary school where her shop class in sewing introduced her to the world of fashion and design. It was her plan to go to the High School of Fashion in Design but she got academically tracked in the 8th grade. Her interest in art was suppressed and did not re-emerge until she was in her thirties, at which time she studied art at the Art League in Alexandria Virginia with Richard Weaver and Robert Liberace. Currently, she is under the tutelage of Russian artist Leonid Gervits at the Art Students League of New York.
Artist's Statement:
The modern world challenges all painters to express both their objective and subjective visual responses to reality. It follows then that every artist’s character must be some ratio of objectivity to subjectivity. Some artists can do this by being one or the other, an abstract or a realist painter. ...
