Born in Cardiff, South Wales and drawn to art and photography at an early age, in 1980 KJ Rich enrolled on a Foundation Course in Art and Design at Cardiff Art College. Following the successful completion of the Foundation Course, KJ Rich attended West Midlands College of Higher Education and graduated in 1984 with a BA Degree in Visual Communications. This enabled KJ Rich to pursue a career as a Creative Graphic Designer within advertising/design agencies and also within company marketing departments, developing his art at every opportunity both digitally and traditionally. KJ Rich creates creative reflections of the world around him, from nature, music and the ordinary, whilst being greatly influenced by the power of Rothko, the passion of Van Gogh, the ever evolving Hockney, the structure of Mondrian and to the street art influence of Banksy. KJ Rich has also been selected as an artist and taken part in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, which will be broadcast early 2026.
