Rebecca Pavlik

My paintings explore color in nature, the landscape and also wildlife. I began painting out West, in California and New Mexico after many years creating fine art photographs with B&W infrared film. I feel I have a photographer's approach to painting, an attempt to capture the light and color of the natural world.

I currently reside in St. Petersburg, Florida after living out West for many years.

My mother was an art teacher and a talented artist, so I grew up making art. Mostly, I made a lot of clay sculptures of animals and coil pots, but I made other things as well.
As an adult, I studied fine art and art history at St. Petersburg College before getting my Bachelor's degree from the University of Florida. I've also studied fine art photography at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles and at the Santa Fe Photographic workshops in New Mexico.
