Richard Burger

I am a contemporary artist who specialises in portraiture and landscape. Working primarily with oil, I am interested in showing my particular view of the world around me.

Using models and photographs I paint both portraits, interior scenes and altered landscapes to bring my own particular take on people and places. Trying to capture rapidly the essence of a scene, I paint rapidly and instinctively to keep the freshness of the moment. ‘

My influences include the works of Genoese painters of the Golden era as well as the works of contemporary figurative British and American artists such as Doig, Freud, Hockney and Hopper, all figurative artists in an abstract, conceptual world
