Roberta Pizzi

I was born in Bologna on March 5, 1969, the city where I currently work and live
My first profession is illustration with which I began to work, publish books and videos and participate in exhibitions and competitions. But I have always done a lot of painting which at this moment I have chosen as my first expression. I have never liked to portray the human subject. And in recent years I have been focused on nature and its vital force. This can be seen from the fact that I am humanizing nature by inserting elements linked to our vital organs that I also find in nature, in an obvious or less obvious way.
I have always mixed painting techniques. In this case I use acrylic and oil color to obtain more depth in the colors. Sometimes I use wall colors or oil pencils. The canvases are treated with chalk base and rabbit glue.

My training began when I was a few years old and I drew on books that told fairy tales but did not have images. At ten-twelve years old I participated in competitions making sculptures with the earth from the garden. Then I chose the state art high school in Bologna (15-19 years) and finally I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino (19-23 years). Then I started painting, illustrating and teaching with art workshops for all ages. Today I teach at the State Art High School in Bologna, Italy.
At the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino I was lucky enough to have teachers like Omar Galliani and Pier Paolo Calzolari, one of the six most important exponents of Arte Povera in Italy.

Most of my works as an illustrator are part of a private collection of the Gruppo Alcuni of Treviso and owned by Dr. Manfio Sergio. Only in recent years have I turned to painting.
