Robert M Hornik

I am an american living in Israel. I studied painting and composition at the Art Students League in New York in the mid 70's. mostly in the studio of H. Lee Smith who was one of the great teachers in the league.
In my earlier days I painted landscapes and portraits mostly in water-color, and printed woodcuts and wood engravings.
In recent years I've been painting in oil on gesso'd wood.
My approach to painting is to work out the composition and color relationships thoroughly and then concentrate on the emotional facets and imagination involved in order to give the viewers happiness and good feelings seeing the good points in others, and connecting to to the joy of life.

Lately I've been working on a series of paintings (oil on wood) of Childhood Memories.

I always use the best quality materials available.
