Largely self-taught, Romain Eugène paint in a style halfway between realism and impressionism. He privileges light and colors rather than a precise rendering of his subjects.
His influences are mainly found in the impressionist and realist currents. The discovery of the work of the Nancy artist Émile Friand was like a revelation and persuaded him that realistic painting could convey a strong artistic expression.
His work focuses on the search for intimacy with the model as well as the emotion felt when looking at the painting.
Influences :
John Singer Sargent, Emile Friand, Jeremy Lipking, Richard Schmid.
