I was born in 1973 in Gorna Oryahovitsa, Bulgaria.I create in the styles of realism, impressionism, post-impressionism and expressionism. As a still-life visual artist, my inspiration comes mainly from the nature and the real life scenes, emotions and experiences. I travel a lot in Bulgaria and all around Europe and recreate on the canvas the characters and views that had impressed me. My favourite atelier is Nature in "plein air". The well-known bulgarian art critic Krasimir Linkov has noticed that: "By his art Russev makes the audience go back in time, in the 30s... one of the most interesting periods of bulgarian art, the time of Nikola Tanev and the other painters who brought the french impressionism in Bulgaria". The collector Dimitar Indzhov said: "Ivan Russev is young, literate and talented artist. Unlike most of his contemporaries he is not excited to be fashionable and does not care if he is interesting. He does not use artistic techniques and approaches in order to fit in another new conceptual flow. He just strives to be a true artist who fairly and honestly express himself through the talent he has. Therefore, he is not afraid to create in impressionistic style, and in some works to reach certain expressive inventions. ...

In 1992 I graduated from The National High School of Plastic Arts and Design "Acad. Dechko Uzunov" in Kazanlak, Bulgaria, profile "Industrial Design". After that I joined the National Art Academy in Sofia and in 1999 I obtained my Master Degree diploma in Industrial design and Art Pedagogy.
