1) Where did you grow up? What was it like?
My birth-place is in the remote area of Palakkad in Kerala State. The family I was born into worked as labour for a local landlord. Later, fortunately, my father moved out of that stagnating life and worked as a chef in a hotel. My childhood was not a very picturesque one, for living in a family of six members and a single source of income, is not easy.
Education is a must in Kerala. Although I was good with my academics, my gift with art did not go un-noticed. My school art teacher discovered and nurtured my talent in visual arts. He mentored me with my work and became my only source of art materials. During my academic years, I worked with my brother over weekends as labour. My school education was followed by two years of academics in a science degree. However, the third simultaneous attempt at the entrance exam for Fine Arts in Kerela proved successful.
After my graduation in Fine Arts, I moved to Mumbai to find myself a corporate-company job, just like my siblings. However, my interest in art and design compelled me into applying on the internet for jobs in fields where I could fulfil these interests.
