Salenia Sanchez

My name is Salenia Sanchez. I'm 32 years old. I'm a contemporary/surrealist painter. I have a Graduate Degree in Psychotherapy/Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn New York. I am a working Art Therapist fulfilling my passion/calling in life. I love shapes, color, and everyday found objects. I love mixing and moving vibrating colors with my paint brush. Art has given me the tools and courage to help me co-birth a new language every time I paint or draw.

I actively explore deeper relationships to the natural world using different shapes, textures, and colors. This challenge of adjustment and contemplation seeps into my work. My palette naturally evolves to express a more emotional, passionate truth and fear. Beginning with an empty space that argues love and lies, I develop these altered environments of introspective and celebratory experiences. The spatial relationships, and the imagery that did not undergo a planning are reflections of a fictive realm that dwells inside me. The disorganizations of these objects and shapes found in my paintings are a confession of both my doubts and my solutions.
