Satin And Tat Collage

Kate Cuthbert was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia. Having studied both Interior & Furniture Design, she moved to designing & making jewellery before successfully landing herself in the art of analogue collage, where she creates under the name satin&tat.

‘I work with primarily paper and love both modern and vintage materials... I cut with both scissors and an X-acto knife depending on the image and the paper quality.’

Kate's process is organic and free flowing. She allows her collages to happen naturally and resists overworking them. Kate favours a clean and minimal aesthetic with negative space featuring prominently in her work. Print Magazine described her as 'a mastermind of minimalistic geometric designs' noting 'her layouts are sleek and clean and often feature vivid, bright colours.'

Kate aspires to create engaging collages that might transport the viewer for a moment. She intuitively responds to her materials which act as a conduit through which she can express her experiences. Kate is drawn to transforming found images into something new, with her work currently exploring shape, colour and fashion.

Kate has, and continues to, exhibit around Adelaide. Her work has been exhibited at Joy Gallery in San Francis...

Having studied Interior & Furniture Design, Kate moved to designing & making jewellery. Self taught, she has landed herself in the art of collage.
