Saulius Vaitiekunas

I have staged more than 40 personal exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, participated in international exhibitions and contemporary art fairs in Lithuania, USA, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, South Africa, Poland and other countries.

Over the years I have developed his individual and specific artistic language. Distinctive pattern, productivity, consistent courses of creative intentions determine exclusiveness in contemporary art space.

In the creative process harmonises suggestion of thoughts and views, philosophical insights and precision aesthetics, links between archaic and present times, unfolds the wisdom accumulated in traditions. Home, adoration of Creator and bellowed ones are the main topics of my works. Titles are polysemantic and are closely related to topicalities of present time (moments) – (absurdity of political games, ecological dangers, loud noises made by modern media and virtual world).

Fundamental ready-made objects are stones from the Baltic Sea and fieldstones. The collection of these stones is constantly being renewed and pictured in large- scale spatial installations, monumental sculptural objects, small stone and metal plastics and conceptual jewellery creations. ...

1971-1976 – Faculty of Law, Vilnius, Lithuania;
1991-2008 – Gallery “Vartai”, Vilnius, Lithuania;
Since 1992 – a member of Lithuanian Artist’s association;
Since 1996 – a member of the Lithuanian art gallerists association;
In 2009 established a fund for the preservation and development of the artistic heritage and gallery “terra recognita”. The artist lives and works in Vilnius.
