Stephan Kauflin

The starting point for many works are often collages that serve as free association templates for themes and subjects. In these collages, the glossy motifs of magazine culture are disrupted. These dualistic, complementary worlds create space for diverse interpretations. On this basis, multi-layered, expressive drawings and images are created in a second work step.

Current photo and video installations are about the search for further meanings that elude the objects at first glance. Simple manipulations and alterations of everyday objects, plastic toys, or odds and ends expand the space for new levels of interpretation. Often these media works are supplemented with text and sound to open up further levels of interpretation.

Stephan Kauflin lives and works in Zurich.
He attended the vocational school for design in Zurich and subsequently worked in the creative field as a studio manager.
Later he worked as a graphic designer and founded his own studio.
For a long time he has been working intensively on his paintings and art projects.
Besides that he leads an alternative offspace.
