My goal is to create work that speaks across genres and traditions. My training in painting was in classical realism, but I work mostly in abstraction and surrealism. Regardless of genre, I balance representation with emotional communication. To me, the best paintings move their viewers without sacrificing technical proficiency, no matter how abstract or representational. You can find more of my work at .
I received my undergraduate degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Columbia University in 2015. After graduating, I worked in human rights and forced migration before studying drawing and painting at The Art Students League of New York from 2017 to 2019. At the League, I studied classical realism, focusing on anatomy and representational art. I also completed an MFA in Poetry at Hunter College in spring 2020. Much of my work explores the connection between the literary and visual arts.
