Suzanne Lykiard

I am an English artist with a passion for the human form, typography and old packaging. I have been drawing for most of my life, but began painting seriously in 2001. I love to experiment with different media, particularly in my drawing.

The main body of my work revolves around the human form, in many media: drawings, mono prints, lino prints and ink. My work aims to capture a fleeting expression or a gesture, a feeling or mood and a little of the beauty of the human form.

Another inspiration is portraiture of the 15th Century, I'm interested in its abstraction and graphic nature.

I graduated in 1982 with BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design from Middlesex Polytechnic. I pursued a successful career in design until 2021 and now completely focusing on my art. In the past I was a Fellow of Royal Society of Arts. From an early age my late father, Richard Long was my main inspiration and teacher with regard to all things art, although I have attended many short courses in portrait painting, figure drawing and painting. I am a member of Surrey Figurative Artists.
