I was born in Pontevedra, Spain in 1945 and now I live and work in Majadahonda, which is a town in the province of Madrid.
My actual work emerges after a five years period of time without painting at all. Some kind of emotional cataclysm in my life encouraged me to deal with brushes and colours again, but leaving behind many of the elements that usually had inhabited my paintings, to focus myself on the two fundamental pillars which are most important for me now: colour and form.
Painting is the best way I count on to fulfill my desire to communicate with others.
My paintings and drawings have, always, carried a message. A silent and hidden message, for me, I must decipher trough others comments; because is not Art, only, what I’m after, but myself.
I never start from White emptiness. I prepare the médium (board, paper, canvas) with a coat of gesso and some acrylic colour, and then, I let flow the brush over the surface to the rhythm my imagination suggest, giving my work a rather emotional and direct touch.

Soco Vara De Rey began to paint in a self-taught way in 1970.
In the following six years, she learns the trade with the visual artists Carmelo Bilbao and Consol Xiberta, in Bilbao, Spain where she resides.
Starting in 1977, she went to the studio of maestro Eduardo Peña in Madrid for five years.
Between 1981 and 1983 during her stay in Pakistan, she took a course on Koranic calligraphy with the teacher Sadiqain.
From 1988 to 1993 she attended the Gemeinde Kunst Schule model drawing workshop, 14 bezirk Vienna.
Between 1994 and 1996 she learned engraving and lithography in the workshop of the House of Culture of San Lorenzo del Escorial, with Enrique González.
During 1995 she attends drawing classes with a model at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
From 1996 to 2000, she attended classes in drawing with a model at the Casa de Cultura de Las Rozas in Madrid.
