Sonia Eva Domenech

Domenech’s work is framed within abstract symbolism. Her artistic journey brought her to the circle as a universal symbol, and the encounter between the aesthetic philosophy of western and eastern discourse.

She has a strong interest in philosophy and oriental arts, I Ching, Tao Te King Lao Tse and Sumi-e technique, all of which has influenced her concepts and style as an artist.

Sonia studied art at the Universidad de Bellas Artes Sant Jordi in Barcelona and her work has been shown in France, Spain and Germany.

Born in Barcelona in 1974, her father was an architect, which led her to drawing at an early age. Her uncle, a renowned sculptor, Claudi Tarrago Borras, greatly influenced her decision to study art.

She attended art school at the age of 16, studying sculpture, influenced by Henry Moore and Giacometti. After this, studied at the Universidad de Bellas Artes (Sant Jordi) in Barcelona. During the 5 years at university she studied sculpture under the renowned sculptor Salvador Jassans.

After her studies she moved into digital art and art design and set up her own design company, which ultimately led her to move her focus to painting.
