I create abstract paintings, photos, and films that are based on organic and natural processes. My approach is very experimental and at times scientific - making use of fluid dynamics and basic chemistry to create favourable conditions for the materialisation of what are termed "naturally emergent patterns". With years of experimenting I have developed numerous unique processes that highlight the natural properties and interactions of various materials, then using the natural beauty of these emergent patterns as the basis for my image making.
The resultant images and films resonate with what I believe are naturalistic sensibilities within us. A reflection of patterns we deeply recognise not only from nature around us, also from the patterns that function in our own bodies.
These forms do not require any rational or cognitive attention, intuition is enough, as the imposition of any formalising beliefs or structures in the act of looking only create blind-spots to what is really there, to what's right in front of us. True understanding of life and reality cannot come from a top-down imposition of "knowledge", only from a bottom-up exploration and recognition of what's really happening around us.
