Spike Myers

I am drawn to areas of the urban environment that are in flux, unformed spaces that are neither built nor un-built. My work in the construction industry constantly informs my artistic practice as I experience the physical reality of these sites of layered fabrication and deconstruction on a daily basis.

Through my work as an artist, I document the everchanging landscape of redevelopment reworking images of construction and decay layering paint and printed images onto plywood and discarded building materials.

New and imagined spaces that are both familiar and dreamlike emerge from voids or float on the layered surface of the paintings, nothing is fixed.
