Tiril Benton

Tiril was born and educated in London. A self-taught artist who works primarily in acrylics, Tiril spontaneously began painting as an adult following the death of her mother in 2000. In the tradition of Joan Miró and Robert Motherwell, Tiril paints by automatism—accessing material from the subconscious and unconscious mind as part of her creative process. The archetypal symbolism emerging from Tiril’s paintings has attracted international attention, and Tiril has exhibited widely and won awards in both the United States and Europe. She is a naturalized citizen of the United States and resides in Huntsville, Alabama.
