Tracey Holland

I photograph still life/assemblage/projection set ups in the studio which utilize light, silhouette, and transparency. I often make short films which combine the still with the moving image. The resulting films or still imagery are usually displayed as installations in the UK and abroad. Ideas behind the work are drawn from the contrasting fields of science and nature and religious and other mythical writings and folk tales. Current inspiration is Joseph Campbell's book 'Inner Reaches of Outer Space'.

Major solo shows include 'Resurrection Stories' at Djanogly Gallery Nottingham 2005, 'States of Matter' at Folly gallery, Lancaster 2004, 'The Almond Tree' at the MAC in Birmingham 2003, and 'Vessel' at Mappin Gallery, Sheffield and tour; 2002 Wellcome Trust Gallery, London, Porto and Lisbon, Portugal. ,
