To communicate more than what is immediately perceivable within a subject is of great interest to me.
Whether drawing or painting, my method of practice involves loose and heavy gestural mark making, working quickly to avoid pretence or stagnation. Working intuitively and finding form as part of my process allows more accurate and effective communication of my experience of a subject.
Each of my works takes study of a subject at its starting point, reading from its form, visualizing volumes and voids. Once started I allow much of the image to build itself from memory and subconscious creation only referring directly to the subject thereafter as mild reference.
Expressive in its execution, my work exists between figuration and abstraction.
