EVERY MINUTE IS A DIFFERENT PICTURE. My grandmother says to me at age 3, driving home from her sisters funeral.. I inherited my first art supplies... ink well pens and a well. My great aunt was a working artist and they knew i had the GIFT.
What do you mean? I asked. "see how everything changes as we drive? and if we stop.. the sun keeps moving and the shadows change!" This messed me up for 30 years, till i figured out how to stop the image from changing!!!!. i still have those pens and still use them.
When in Kindergarten I was told to make a life size door cut out of myself in my adult career... it was with a goatee, and a pallet.. a smock and beret!!!
at age 14 i had epiphany to not take any instruction from any art teacher and let art find its pure self inside of me.. that is a linger story than fits here.
EVOKING NATURE IN THE SOUL OF MANKIND
growing up in Los Angeles.. I could not see a star at night.. if you did go for a hike at night.. a shadow was cast up the mountain from the city light below!!! When i first saw the milky way.. i thought it was a thunder cloud about to rain on me in the middle of the night!!! I later came to be comfortable sleeping outdoors over 200 nights a year with out a tent! While ...
I made a conscious decision to abstain art instruction when i was age 14. Recruited to the top art schools and academy in Ca until my mid 20s, I maintained intent to have art create itself via the muse inside of me.. not a copy of a teacher. My friends older siblings who were natural artists and went to art school graduated Graphic designers and commercial artists; not what art is to me (there is nothing wrong with it, its just not my deal. Also i was impressed with these graduated art students lament that the muse had been drilled out of them....)
I started photography in high school with a tinfoil pinhole shoe box camera i made. I shot film and slide on a standard 35mm for many years.. even carrying the SLR on the fire line when i fought wild fire. thousands of images a year stepped up to 10's of thousands yearly when I went digital. I have interacted with several professional photographers over the years, in particular Ski action genera, both as a ski test dummy, and as a technical adviser. People say my oil paintings look like a photo and then i show them a photo.. and they ask why I bother to paint!!! I am most grateful for a platform to provide these images for folks to enjoy in the home and office!
I started to...
Over the years i have submitted to many national and local / regional shows... a long list is just that .. a long list!!!! from sate fairs to national juried exhibitions, my work gets displayed and takes awards (mostly honorable mentions. but I'm getting more colors in the ribbons as I progress)
