Ute Zaunbauer

I was born and raised in Vienna/Austria, graduated from Neue Wiener Kunst Schule (“New Viennese Art School”) in 1996 with a BA in Fine Arts and am working as a freelance artist ever since.
The main focus of my paintings is the exploration of the connection and interaction of thought and matter in our so-called reality.
The two seeming opponents, thought and matter are brought together as space and line.
The painting is build up in a multitude of layers of very thin paint. The contents of the first layers may not be evident, but the results and relation to the following layers become apparent in the final product. The last layer consists of only a black or white line and represents the idea of the subject at hand. Although the idea is always first it is still present in the material end product (like an essence of the original thought) and therefore applied last. The co-existence and the connection of those layers reflect the complexity of our material world, where there is so much more than what can be seen by the eye.
