Valerie French

Valerie was raised in Vancouver, lived many years in Toronto, and currently resides in Victoria, BC. She loves high heels and hiking boots, the culture in large cities and the spiritual connection of the natural world. Valerie is drawn to photograph urban street scenes, abandoned buildings and vehicles, and our beautiful natural world. How we balance the two dichotomies (or not) is her focus -- how can we live in a rewarding way that also respects and preserves our disappearing natural world.

Valerie would be considered an Outsider Artist but for night classes and art retreats she attended over the years:

B&W film photography with Toby Asmoucha, Watercolour painting with Moira Clark and Elke Sholtz, Abstract Painting Retreat with Harold Klunder, Oil Painting Retreat with Sarah Merry, and Graphic Design classes at George Brown College and Toronto School of Art in Toronto.
