An artist, painting, sculptor and academic lecturer who combines art work with scientific research in fine arts. He was born in the village of Nikolayevka in the region of Ternopil in Ukraine, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Lviv. The artist has throughly studied the works of a Polish astist from the Young Poland folklore trend, such as: Jacek Malczewski, Teodor Axentowicz, Kazimierz Sichulski and Leon Wyczolkowski. Hiz main inspiration is the Hutsul culture.
Vasyl Dutka was awarded with the title of Meritious for Polish Culture by president Lech Kaczynski. He took part in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. He is the laureate of the Bronze "Grand-Prix" of the Nazarij Jaremchuk 1996 festival in Wiznica and the winner of the competition for the design and monumental of Ignacy Jan Padarewski. From 1993, he lectures at the Lviv Academy of Fine Arts in Kosovo, currently combining creative work with the post of deputy prorector of the Institute.
