“My inner energy, it must come out, and live”
Everything is met, some of them are fundamental:
• Caravaggio for its dark light
• Vermeer, for its delicacy and understanding of light,
• Kandinsky, for his spontaneity,
• Soulages, for the strength of his gesture,
• Richter for colour overlays
• And above all, Zao Wou-Ki, my true pictorial encounter, for the subtlety of his living spaces that he offers us, empty inhabited by the silence and wind that transcend everyday life.
I paint on canvas or on wood. I first work the structure with mortar, marble powder, handmade paper made in South East Asia.
I like that you can touch my paintings, feel the grain.
I let come and I dialogue using acrylic, pigments, the oxidation process of copper, bronze or iron, in search of movement, light and breathing of the color.
If I were to qualify my current painting, I would speak of suggestive abstraction.
As a student I graduated as a clinical psychologist.
My meeting with the defrocked monk of the abbey of Montserrat was my first formation during his visit to Vanuatu in 1978.
I’ve been self-taught ever since.
