The interest in watercolour painting has developed by the use of this medium in his work painting architecture (as an architectural illustrator) it is a medium that intrigues and drives a certain attitude to picture making. There is also an attraction to working with the materials of watercolour painting, the lovely handmade papers (sometimes 600GSM),the large sable brushes, and of course the well know immediacy of the medium.
He has been a practitioner in architectural illustration for the past 3 decades. A design graduate (London) and originally an interior designer in Sydney and London.
He has been a lecturer in watercolour illustration for designers at Sydney University, and Sydney College of the Arts. He is a founding member of the Association of Architectural Illustrators, and has a large number of drawings in the modern architecture collection at the Mitchell Library in Sydney.
David has had a number of exhibitions in Sydney
and the Blue Mountains where he now lives and works.
