Yeong Choi

Born in South Korea in 1977, currently living and working in Illinois, USA.
She uses bold colors and abstract shapes to create intense expressions of flora and fauna and explore the uniqueness of each of her subjects. Her depictions of nature, for example, embrace both the creature’s unique strength – the features revealing its physical vitality, vigor and energy – and its peaceful, industrious and patient inner nature. As the dynamic external and serene internal characteristics coexist, they evoke an awe of each living being and its interconnectedness to all other beings around it. Through painting, Choi examines the structure of her internal world, which is deeply connected to nature and the universe.
