YiMiao Shih works with embroidery machine innovatively, creates contemporary ‘embroidery-drawing’. She also makes art with acrylic paints, mixed media and pencils. Her work often satirises contemporary culture and politics, also captures the everyday mundane moments in life. Shih is also a visiting tutor of Visual Communication at the Royal College of Art.
YiMiao Shih (b. 1985) holds a BFA in Fine Art from National Taiwan Normal University and a MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art, UK.
Her recent work 'RABBEXIT(An Homage to Brexit)' was selected by Grayson Perry for Summer Exhibtion at the Royal Academy of Art in 2018.
In 2019, Shih held her first solo show 'Rabbrexit Means Rabbrexit' as an accumulation of six- month residency at the gallery House of Illustration in King's Cross, London.
Her other work has been exhibited in London Transport Museum, The Saatchi Gallery, The Mall Galleries, and Seventeen Gallery.
