Zulfirman Syah

I am a fine artist from Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. I graduated from Indonesia Institute of Art (ISI) Yogyakarta with a major in Painting in 2006. Until my recent move to Christchurch, I had lived and worked in Yogyakarta since beginning my studies there in 1997. In the two decades, I have spent as a professional fine artist, the motivation for my work has been to create art as an expression of my soul in a way that reflects my aesthetic experience. With each new work, I strive to use my technique and vision to make an impact on the evolution of art. Throughout my career, I have participated more than 60 exhibitions—in Yogyakarta, Padang, and Jakarta, Indonesia, as well as at Cheim & Read Gallery in New York, Siena Art Institute in Siena Italy, and The National Art Museum of China in Beijing.
