Iryna Mellis was born in 1982 in Ukraine. In 2005, she graduated from Medical University, where her studies in anatomy later sparked a strong interest in the realistic depiction of the human body, particularly in portraiture and figurative painting.
She turned to painting in 2019, developing her skills through experimentation and personal exploration. In 2025, Iryna Mellis moved to Germany, where the experience of adapting to a new culture and environment had a profound impact on her artistic voice.
Her most recent series, created in a black-and-white palette, reflects themes of human fragility, solitude, and the inner strength that enables one to overcome life’s challenges. For Mellis, painting is not only a craft but also an authentic form of dialogue, where emotions and personal experience find resonance between artist and viewer.
