Rike Wolkesieben

Rikes´ art moves stylistically between expressive realism, contemporary figurative expressionism and elements of abstract expressionism. She combines realistic, representational motifs with a dynamic, colourful painting style and an unmistakable, personal signature.

Her works impress with their colour-intensive, dynamic and multi-layered style. Expressive brushstrokes, flowing colour gradients and lively splashes of colour characterise her paintings, as do clear contrasts between light and dark. The compositions often appear spontaneous and almost intuitive, yet always retain a recognisable inner structure and clarity.

A characteristic feature of Rikes´ painting is her bold use of strong, bright colours. These colours often appear both in large areas and in energetic speckles and lines, giving her paintings a vibrant, almost electric effect. In her technique, she combines representational drawing with abstract, gestural areas of colour and spontaneous splashes of paint.
