This artwork is crafted from recycled materials. The leather is sourced from my previous work as a leather goods maker. By gathering these precious materials, I give them a second life and strive to showcase their inherent beauty through my artwork. Materials: leather on 300g paper.

Aurélie Pellat (b. 1992) is an emerging French contemporary visual artist who works primarily with leather offcuts, transforming industrial remnants into abstract wall compositions. Her practice stands at the crossroads of sculpture, collage, and minimalism. Having a background in design and a deep sensitivity to material, Aurélie explores what remains once value and function have been stripped away. The tactile presence of leather — at once soft, strong, and scarred — becomes her language of expression. Through precise cuts and intuitive assemblage, she brings new life to fragments that once belonged to something whole. Her work questions notions of transformation, resilience, and quiet beauty within what is often discarded. It reflects a fascination with tension — between fullness and emptiness, control and release, fragility and permanence. Aurélie’s work has been shown in curated selections and online galleries. Her pieces are held in private collections in France and abroad. ⸻ ARTIST STATEMENT What remains after the substance has been consumed? My work begins where others stop looking — in the traces, the offcuts, the invisible parts of creation. I collect discarded leather pieces and let them guide me toward new forms of balance and presence. Each fragment carries its own story — of use, of gesture, of disappearance. By reassembling them, I question what we choose to keep, what we let go of, and how beauty can emerge from what’s left behind. The process is both meditative and physical, a dialogue between matter and intuition. Through this act of reconstruction, I seek to restore a quiet dignity to what persists, and to transform loss into renewal.
