Always fascinated and enchanted by nature, Ortega studied drawing and painting in his hometown Venezuela. He is fascinated by the artistic currents of cubism and surrealism. All this flows into his artistic research. His favorite subjects are, in fact, borrowed from nature. His paintings are often the underwater representation of what is immortalized there. As if through a filter, which zooms in and out. The use of warm colors derives from its belonging to South American culture; the (de)composition of the work in small geometric figures (circles, squares, rectangles) is instead a signature of the artist: the final result is a process similar to that of a mosaic but with the fluidity given by this aqueous filter, enlivened finally from shades ranging from pink, to orange, to red, to purple. With more than 45 years of artistic career, his artworks have been displayed in Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Italy and most recently, Belgium. In addition, throughout his career Ortega has also expressed his creative work through muralism and illustration as a way to expand his inner world.
