Mava Ra

I am Mava Ra, a color explorer working with oil pastel on sandpaper.

My drawings are based on the contrast between softness and roughness, color and grain. I create small-format works that invite slow looking and tactile perception.

On Saatchi Art I present works from the series “Simple Forms” — a body of drawings built around a self-imposed limitation: each piece uses only three colors, one of them white.

Simple objects, signs, and fragments become quiet emotional spaces shaped through texture, restraint, and color.

Warm, tactile, and slightly imperfect, these works are closer to poetic moments than to cold abstraction.

Independent artist with a self-developed practice in drawing and color studies since the late 1990s.

Works by Mava Ra have been presented in exhibitions across Europe and internationally, including Message In RGB & White (Athens, Greece – Budapest, Hungary, 2025), Jump To The Future (Genoa, Italy, 2023), Myth International Illustration Biennale (Haifa, Israel, 2022), and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (Gallery53, Meriden, Connecticut, USA, 2021).

Works are held in private and museum collections, including Surber’s Museum für Musikautomaten und Phonographen (Keszthely, Hungary) and ANSPI NEOT (Ferentino, Italy).
