Alexandra Nunes (Lisbon 1981), currently lives and works in Lisbon. She graduated in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, where even before completing her degree, she received the D. Fernando II Revelation Artist Award in Sculpture (Sintra, Portugal) in 2005. Throughout her career, she has explored a wide range of artistic languages, including photography, painting, ceramics and sculpture, standing out for her constant search for innovation and dialogue between techniques and materials. Her works have been presented in art galleries in Portugal and Spain, with participation in solo and group exhibitions. It was in painting that she found a means of expressing herself, reflecting her desire to experiment and discover. The abstract, visually marked in her works offers in each of them a narrative in the creative process. Each painting emerges from an interaction between the random and the control, characterizing a visual record of unexpected combinations of colors, shapes and lines that define each new composition. This process helps to accept the unpredictable, the uncertainty of each form. Although there is a meticulous work on the color, it sometimes surprises, changing tones and overlaps and cannot premeditate or plan each painting, having to accept the unknown and discover new, unplanned shapes and colors in each painting.
