Gallit Shaltiel

Gallit Shaltiel is a Israeli born visual artist and educator who is currently based in Brighton .She completed her Degree in 1996 at University of Plymouth, specialising in sculptural installation and recently completed an MA in Sequential Design and Illustration at the University of Brighton,achieving a Distinction.
She has lived and worked in Exeter,Cyprus,Ireland and Bristol and is now happily settled in Brighton. She is a teacher of Fine Art and course leader of AS Photography at a central 6th form college as well as a member of Red Rooster Studios. Recent work starts from card cut outs silhouetted by a light box and digitalised through photography.Work is inspired by outsider art,the Grotesque and Carnivalesque. Other elements which inform ideas and visual language are, Psychology, dark humour, slapstick and the Absurd.
