ABOUT
EDUCATION

Ingvar Kenne was born 1965 in Sweden and is now based in Sydney, Australia. He has been working in the fields of editorial and art photography for the last fifteenyears in the Australasia region and Europe. Ingvar has always pursued his own photographic projects, which have resulted in more then a dozen solo exhibitions in three continents, two books and he has also been the recipient of several artist work grants.

The work draws on the rich tradition of landscape photography, but it sets out to distance itself from its legacy of perfectionism, unspoken guidelines and aesthetic formalism. The collective imagery gives an impression of work in progress, speaking in future tense of images in a state of becoming.

He studied Photography at the University of Gothenburg 1989-1991, and has since exhibited in more than a dozen countries including England, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Australia.

The same year that he completed his studies, Kenne had a solo show at the Museum of Modern Art in Bors, Sweden. In 1992 he published his first monograph Vid Sidan Av (On The Side) - the culmination of a two-year project following a group of drug addicts in a suburb of Gothenburg. This exhibition also toured over a two year period.

A two year journey around the world on motorbike resulted in his second monograph in 2004 Chasing Summer. The eminent writer Paul Theroux collaborated by way of writing the introduction.

In 2005 at the Cannes Lions Festival, for an inaugural event called New Photographers The Hottest Talent Of Tomorrow, Kenne was selected as one of 31 photographers worldwide, to be exhibited and discussed during a seminar. That exhibition toured Europe and showed in New York.

Kenne is currently putting together book number three Portraits 1997-2007 and his latest exhibition Landscapes Deconstructed was held at the Saatchi & Saatchi Gallery in March 2007. ,
