Natalie Smith

As a German-born artist, Natalie Smith, earned her Bachelor of Fine Art in postmodern art and experimental theatre at the University of Giessen. She moved to the United States to study painting and performance art at the University of Texas in Dallas. Natalie later earned her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Montana. After a 20-year career as a theatre director in Boston, Kauai, and San Francisco, Natalie resumed painting in 2014, with a focus on abstract landscapes, textural paintings, and figures. Her use of textures such as papers, metals, concrete, coffee, and 24k gold brings a visceral experience to her paintings. Nature is above all and will forever be her inspiration.

After relocating to the US, Natalie Smith studied painting and Performance Art at the University of Texas in Dallas, where she performed with Fred Curchak in Art-O-Rama at the Dallas Museum of Art.

She earned her MFA at the University of Montana.
