ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by the a regurgitation of past styles of Brazilian architecture, amalgamated with modern details blended and twisted to form a new interpretation of today's facades to form a mash that left the eye disorientated with a a composite of ingredients, namely the inspiration he sought from the new and landscapes of the Brazil of today. His main tools are still photography and superpositions of images that transforms his interpretations of the existing shapes of the city of São Paulo. Using images of The Bienal Pavilion, a space, which previously took the name Palácio das Indústrias, is part of the set of buildings designed by Niemeyer for the park to commemorate the IV Centenary of the city of São Paulo, The Edifício Copan (Copan Building) is a 118.44-metre (459 ft.) tall, 38-story residential building in downtown São Paulo, Brazil. It has 1,160 apartments, 70 commercial establishments[1] and is one of the largest buildings in Brazil and also the classic pattern of tiles square modules in white and black geometric pieces, behind the modules that graphically conform the map of the state of São Paulo was created in 1966 by the architect and artist Mirthes dos Santos Pinto. Creating a multilayered image of blended Sao Paulo landscapes and lines, an homage to what has become the symbols of a Brazil that is geometrical and three dimensional , multi-cultural and harmonic.

MY WORK IS ESSENTIALLY A TRANSFORMATIVE PROCESS OF CREATION. I CAPTURE IMAGES OF CITYSCAPES, PEOPLE, URBAN FEATURES, ARCHITECTURE. THESE EASILY COMPREHENDED REPRESENTATIONAL IMAGES ARE THEN DISTILLED, ABSTRACTED AND REPURPOSED. MY PRACTICE REMOVES THE CERTAIN RECOGNIZABLY INHERENT IN THE IMAGES, STRIPPING AWAY AND CHANGING SCALE, FEATURES, DETAILS AND POINTS OF VIEW. THEY ARE THUS RENDERED DOWN TO THE FUNDAMENTAL BUILDING BLOCKS OF A NEW WORLD. COMBINING THESE ABSTRACTED IMAGES, DYNAMIC COLLAGES OF FRACTAL PATTERNS AND RHYTHMS EMERGE FROM APPARENT CHAOS. THEY STILL CARRY WITH THEM THE FAINTEST SUBLIMINAL SIGNALS OF OUR REALITY, TRANSFORMING THEM INTO THE FOUNDATIONS OF A WORLD THAT NEVER EXISTED BEFORE. AND YET, THE PERCEPTIVE VIEWER WILL SENSE A NAGGING FAMILIARITY FROM THE FAINT ECHOES OF OUR OWN REALITY THAT VIBRATE THROUGHOUT MY FINISHED WORKS.
