In this surreal and slightly terrifying evolution, something has clearly gone wrong—or at least, the subject seems to think so. With three rows of sharp, gritted teeth and angry blue "hairs" radiating from its form, this creature exudes an air of frustration, as if deeply displeased with its final a...

Born in Brescia in 1957 and based in Milan since early childhood, Alberto Capitani is a digital artist whose work bridges classical disciplines and cutting-edge technology. With a background in music and philosophy, Capitani explores the intersection of aesthetics, irony, and conceptual depth through artificial intelligence. A graduate in piano from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, he also pursued studies in composition and electronic music. His academic journey extended to the University of Milan, where he delved into mathematical logic and theoretical philosophy. For over four decades, Capitani taught piano in music-oriented middle schools, nurturing a generation of musicians. In recent years, he has transitioned into the realm of visual arts, harnessing AI tools such as DALL·E and ChatGPT to create a diverse portfolio exceeding 1,200 works. Each piece serves as an experiment in blending intuitive aesthetics with philosophical inquiry, challenging viewers to engage with multiple layers of meaning. Central to his current practice is the ongoing project "L'Altro Sguardo..." ("The Other Gaze..."), a collaborative exploration aimed at stimulating and guiding the creative potential of artificial intelligence. Capitani adopts a maieutic approach, fostering a dynamic dialogue with AI to unlock unforeseen forms and narratives. His artistic process continues to evolve, integrating image generation, conceptual development, and reflective writing. Capitani's work invites audiences into a space where art, philosophy, and algorithmic imagination converge. Artist Statement I am deeply fascinated by two dimensions: the art of imagery, for its power to encapsulate stories and evoke emotions; and the art of words, for its ability to generate meaning and suggest visual worlds. Artificial intelligence serves as the intersection of these paths. Within this realm, I explore new ways of seeing—navigating between algorithms and metaphors, light and irony. Each of my works represents a fragment of dialogue between the visible and the invisible, the structured and the spontaneous, the human and the artificial. I am a digital artist, an explorer of imaginary worlds, a storyteller of images that pose more questions than they answer.
