About The Artwork

Previously exhibited at The Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition 2016 at The Ulster Museum, Northern Ireland. I came across a story of two dancers one having been criticised by the choreographer a fellow dancer comforted her offering nothing but her empathy and time, that softness and strength to give stuck with me how admirable a trait often found in sisterhood. The ability to see, listen and not say anything the perfect animal to help narrate this tale a rabbit. Their arms seeking reassurance and gaining support the flowing dresses blend in their unification. It is intentionally romanticised rather than to shy from something that is a generalisation I'm bringing note to it by embracing it as its truth is still relevant I choose graphite as a medium for "Manimal" art works because of its simplicity, we all have an experience of using a pencil yet the medium itself is so versatile in its mark making. The monochromatic nature allows for interpretation of colour. For me it reminds me of watching black and white films as a child but remembering them in colour.
