Jouke Schwarz
Netherlands
Jouke Schwarz is a multi-talented artist, making paintings, animations and installations. Born 1984 in England to Scottish Dutch parents, Jouke was raised in Chile in Latin America. After finishing high school in Santiago he headed north to La Serena to study oil painting under the tuition of Paz Alvial. He then moved to the Netherlands where he studied Audiovisual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, graduating in 2011. Still based in Amsterdam, he is a full-time musician and painter. Finding his inspiration in nature and landscape, he paints mainly abstracts that constantly question time, space, the meaning of contour, absences and traces.
